The Kimball platform intended to answer questions like:
- What actions do users complete that lead to some goal (ex. people who upload profile photos are 10x less likely to churn)
- Given a thing (user, entity in your system like an invoice), what do we think it is going to do next?
- What does Kimball recommend doing to guide something down a path towards a goal (for example, “what should I nudge my user to do in order to prevent them from churning?”)
Kimball’s API service runs within your software’s infrastructure, typically running in a docker container in Kubernetes or on a virtual machine in your cloud provider. It can ingest data directly via API or indirectly via log shipping and generates/stores models in cloud-based storage – operating entirely under your control.
